“Charlie comes to us with a wealth of knowledge and experience specifically in the area of nonprofits. He has worked for two large not –for- profit organizations and has held various positions of responsibility including serving as an Executive Director,” said Mariann MacDonald, president of the board of directors. “I believe his hands on approach, his business acumen, his leadership style and his grasp of the nonprofit world will take us to next level and help us meet our long term strategic goals.”
Myrick most recently served as Executive Director of the American Heart Association in Palm Desert, California, after transferring there from South Carolina. During his six year tenure with the AHA, Myrick worked extensively with local business and community leaders to obtain substantial fundraising goals for the organization. He will bring significant leadership experience to Komen Southwest Florida including strategic planning, spearheading fundraising campaigns, volunteer development and organizational training.
“My vision and plan is to bring my 13 -plus years of nonprofit leadership experience to the SWFL area to educate and raise more much needed funds that provide services to our great community,” explained Myrick. “After being successful with the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association, I decided it was time to bring my experience to make a bigger impact on individual lives of women and men. With Susan G. Komen for the Cure, I will be doing just that, making a difference with every dollar raised for the needs and services for individuals in our Southwest Florida communities.“
Myrick holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Coastal Carolina University. His career has included leadership roles within the American Cancer Society in South Carolina. Prior to entering the nonprofit sector, he held numerous national sales and management roles within the United Parcel Service where he was also instrumental in introducing innovative product lines.
Myrick will begin his new position for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Southwest Florida on February 11th.
